What is ClockHubs?
ClockHubs brings the time tools you reach for during an ordinary day together on one fast, uncluttered site. There is nothing to download and no account to create — every tool runs directly in your browser, on a phone or a desktop, and most of them keep working offline once you have opened them.
The tools exist because the alternatives are usually worse. A phone alarm is buried three taps deep in an app you have to unlock first. A kitchen timer is in the kitchen. Working out what time it is in Singapore before you call someone means either mental arithmetic or trusting an offset you half-remember. Each tool here is a single page that does one thing, loads instantly, and needs no setup.
Which tool do you need?
The four most-used tools sound similar and are constantly confused. The difference is simply which direction time is running:
- Alarm — fires at a clock time. "Wake me at 7:00." Set a title, pick a sound, and repeat it on chosen weekdays.
- Timer — counts down a duration and alerts you at zero. "Ring in 20 minutes." One-click presets from 1 minute to 12 hours.
- Stopwatch — counts up from zero, with laps. "How long did that take?"
- Countdown — counts down to a date, days or months out. "How long until Christmas?" Countdowns can be shared as a link.
Beyond those there is a live analog and digital clock, a world clock for tracking several cities at once, a chess clock for two-player games, a metronome with tap tempo, a random number generator for draws and picks, a time and date calculator for durations, date differences and age, and a public holiday calendar for the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
How we built it
- Fast, because it is mostly not there. Pages are pre-rendered static HTML with a few kilobytes of JavaScript. There is no framework to download and no data to fetch before the clock appears.
- Private by default. Your alarms, saved cities, theme and format preferences are stored in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account, so there is nothing for us to hold.
- Works offline. A service worker caches each tool after your first visit, so it keeps running without a connection. You can install ClockHubs as an app from your browser's menu.
- Accurate. Times come from your device's own system clock, and time zone calculations use the IANA database, so daylight saving is handled correctly rather than guessed at.
- Readable in any light. Dark theme by default, light theme one tap away in the header.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ClockHubs free?
Yes. Every tool is free, with no account, no sign-up and no trial. The site is funded by advertising.
Will my alarm ring if I close the tab?
No. The alarm and timer need the page open to fire. You can switch to another tab and they will keep running, but closing the browser or letting the device sleep stops them. For anything critical, set a backup on your phone's built-in alarm.
Is my data stored?
Only on your own device. Preferences such as theme, saved cities and your alarms live in your browser's local storage and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Do I need to install anything?
No, everything runs in the browser. If you would like an app icon on your home screen or desktop, use your browser's "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" option.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, every tool is designed for touch and small screens as well as desktop. Bear in mind that mobile browsers suspend background tabs aggressively, so a phone's native alarm app is more dependable for waking up.
Why does my alarm or timer make no sound?
Browsers block audio until you have interacted with the page. Clicking anywhere — or pressing Test Sound on the alarm — is enough. Also check that the tab is not muted and that system volume is up.
